·Shift: FT Days, Monday-Friday
·Requirements: BSN andMinimum 3 years' experience; BLS and ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer
·Cardiovascular Acute Care RN experience: CV IMC, Cardiac ICU or CVICU-Full Time.Preferred additional experience working in Cath and/or EP lab.
·Patient Population: Adult Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Vascular patients.
·Patient Ratios: Cath/RP team comprised of RN's and Rad Techs working in 3-4 person teams to manage procedural patient care, collaborating with other RN's, providers and anesthesia providers.
·Number of Beds: 5 total invasive cardiology labs, including 2 electrophysiology labs.
Department Specifics: The BHVH Cath/EP Lab, working in conjunction with Baylor All Saints, is the only hospital in Tarrant count providing a full spectrum of Cardiology services, including LVAD, ECMO, E-CPR, TAVR, MitraClip and advanced heart failure programs. Over 1800 invasive cardiology procedures per year and over 800 electrophysiology and cardiac implantations per year. We cross-train staff members to be proficient in multiple roles in the Cath/EP Lab.
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital (BHVH) is a nationally recognized destination hospital for heart and vascular care in North Texas as well as much of the surrounding region. BHVH was founded in 2002 and was the first North Texas hospital dedicated solely to the care and treatment of heart and vascular disease. The number of lifesaving and life-changing procedures offered has continued to increase since that time.
JOB SUMMARY
The Manager, Nursing Catheter Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for creating and sustaining a healthy work environment for assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to provide a safe and caring environment for patients, family and staff. The Manager plans, develops, implements, evaluates, and monitors policies and procedures, budgets and the allocation of resources, continuous quality improvement initiatives, educational programs, and governance councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and targets. Provides nursing care as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Professional Practice Environment: Develops and articulates a vision for nursing practice for area of responsibility. Engages supervisors and staff in the development and implementation of departmental goals and targets
Quality, Evidence-based Practice and Research: Maintains current knowledge in evidence-based clinical and headship practices, nursing research findings, patient care delivery models and work redesign to proactively identify, plan, implement, evaluate, and monitor quality/performance improvement initiatives to advance practice and improve patient care. Systematically examines and evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice based on a variety of indicators including, but not limited to, State and national regulatory bodies and related national benchmarks.
Caring Practices/Service Excellence: Creates and sustains an attentive, helpful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff. Examines patterns and trends from departmental patient care conferences, interprofessional rounds and outcome data, and implements changes to ensure best caring practices and outcomes for patients, families, and staff. Accountable for development and implementation of the department's succession plan.
Partnership: Role models, teaches, and mentors professional leadership and accountability for nursing's role within the inter-professional health care team. Heads and participates in departmental, hospital and system-wide programs, committees, and special projects to achieve target outcomes.
Professionalism: Improves nursing practice and the work environment through participation in mutual governance and the conclusion-making processes, and meaningfully recognizing the contributions of others.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge and expertise of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies, and procedures governing the provision of nursing care applicable to the area of assignment.
