Position Summary: The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist is responsible for performing comprehensive Polysomnographic testing, staging & scoring, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Lead Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Supervisor, Manager, and the medical director (M.D., D.O). A Polysomnographic Technologist can provide oversight of a Polysomnographic Technologist Trainee. Work situations require good customer service, effective communication, appropriate knowledge of theory and practical application in the field of sleep disorders, making sound clinical judgments, actions, regarding unusual patient behavior, i.e. seizure activity, life threatening cardiac and respiratory abnormalities. Internal contacts are basically within the work group, but may include patient care staff and management throughout the four MultiCare Sleep Centers. This position has external contacts with physicians as well as extensive direct patient care and patient contact on a daily basis.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Certified by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Respiratory Therapist (CRT, RRT) or Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologist (R. EEG T.) Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) HealthCare Provider Respiratory Therapy training or EEG Technology CRT/RRT or R. EEG T. must have previous formal training and practicum in Polysomnography which included schooling and experience in PSG coursework, clinical rotations and/or on the job training in PSG. One year experience in polysomnographic technology post registration is preferred Certification in CSE, and/or CCSH preferred Experience with HST and initiating patient education preferred
