The role you’ll contribute:
Under general supervision, the MRI Technologist/Coordinator is responsible for patient procedure throughput including daily coordination of the MRI workflow of Outpatients (OP) Inpatients (IP), Emergency Department (ED) and Intraoperative patients across all scanners located in the Medical Plaza, Main Hospital and the Ginsberg Tower Surgery Suite. Researches information necessary to ensure exam is accurately ordered with no contraindication to patient and communicates with nursing departments to expedite MRI procedures as needed. Oversees specialty exam scheduling, facilitates the scheduling of additional imaging as requested by the Radiologist and assists Centralized Scheduling with general MRI scheduling questions. Assists in maintaining the imaging anesthesia schedule. The MRI Technologist/ Coordinator updates nursing units and recovery units on the status of patient exams. Scans patients as workflow requires following age-specific guidelines while implementing the principles of Florida Hospital. The MRI Technologist/Coordinator establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all referring physicians, hospital, and commercial agencies.

- Researches patient history prior to sending for patient to ensure exam is accurately performed.
- Verifies laboratory results as well as facilitates the completion of all exams in as little time as possible. Keeps work flow moving and minimizes empty table time.
- Assigns IPs to Imaging anesthesia schedule, schedules specialty exams for IP and OP which includes coordination with radiologists, cardiologists and Medtronix. Fields calls for add-on exams and provides direction/assistance to centralized schedulers, physician offices and patients.
- Properly screens each patient, visitor and employee or enters the MRI facility for contraindications for admission to the magnet room. Educates patient concerning exam.
- When notified by Radiologist Facilitator (RF) or Radiologist, reviews exams on IMPAX to ensure all images and documentation are available. Facilitates the scheduling of any additional imaging requested by the Radiologist.
Qualifications The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Minimum qualifications:
- Two years of MRI experience
- ARRT – MR
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related discipline
- Minimum of one year of MRI experience at Florida Hospital
- Prior MRI experience on GE magnets
- PACS experience specific to AGFA
- State of Florida license as a General Radiographer
