This Job Opportunity Announcement will be used to fill a Audiologist (Vestibular Program Manager) GS-0665-13 position in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services with the Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System. The position is under the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service and provides audiology services to deliver consistent and high-quality care to Veterans with hearing and balance issues. The position of vestibular program manager performs duties int eh main Audiology Clinic located in Denver, CO and/or any of the Community Based Outpatient Care facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to: Identifying, evaluating, diagnosing, managing, and treating disorders of human hearing, balance, tinnitus, and other disorders associated with the practice of audiology. Performing otoscopic examination and external ear canal management of removal of cerumen. Conducting and interpreting behavioral, electroacoustic, or electrophysiologic test used to evaluate disorders associate with the practice of audiology. Determining the appropriateness of amplification devices and systems such as hearing aids, sensory aids, hearing assistive devices, alerting and telecommunication systems, and captioning devices. Administering and interpreting electrophysiologic measurements of neural function including, but not limited to, sensory and motor evoked potentials, test of nerve conduction velocity, and electromyography. Providing rehabilitation to persons with balance disorders using habituation, exercise therapy, and balance retraining. Serves as program manager for the inter-disciplinary vestibular team. Oversees quality assurance for the program including timely reports and makes recommendations to supervisors and/or chief on overall clinic and staff performance. Serves as a facilitator in coordinating vestibular program initiatives and consensus building activities among clinical team members with differing backgrounds, interests, and point of views.
