Work Hours/Shift:

Full Time Days

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Demonstrates the skill necessary to provide safe and adequate telemetry monitoring for cardiac patients at Huguley Hospital.
• Runs strips Q 2 hours (8am-10pm) and Q 1 hours (11pm-7am) for nurse interpretation with no more than three (3) variances per year.
• Reports any rhythm changes to Charge Nurse/RN 100% of the time.
• Responds to all alarm signals 100% of the time, i.e., bringing needed drugs and supplies and running errands as observed by nurse anesthetist with no more than four documented variances per year.

What You Will Need:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Unit Secretary experience preferred.
• Six (6) to twelve (12) months previous monitor technician experience preferred.
• Successful completion of Monitor/Telemetry Course (Monitor Tech class).
• Accurate typing skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.

Job Summary

The Monitor/Telemetry Technician observes the telemetry monitors for a designated time frame, under the supervision of Charge Nurse/RN, in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act.  Must be able to recognize and document basic arrhythmias.  Must be able to operate the telemetry equipment, call light system and recognize emergency alarms and responding appropriately.  Must be able to communicate with doctors, patients, staff, other nurses and medical personnel.  Must be able to function independently and efficiently as a member of the hospital team.  May be required to perform general clerical duties.
