GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision of Physician Director and Adminstrator of Cardiology, performs Echocardiographic testing. Ensures quality and safe delivery of care to patients of all ages. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs all echocardiographic tests. Instructs patient on the procedure; obtains relevant information from the patient and available clinical records. Attaches electrodes according to established procedures; operates the echocardiograph machine in order to obtain test results. 2. Differentiates artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures and adjusts equipment accordingly; recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized. Measures the appropriate echocardiogram structures as indicated. Refers all problems to supervisor or Cardiologist immediately. 3. Maintains all patient records; forwards copies of reports to appropriate units for inclusion in patient records. 4. Ensures that the work area is clean and supplied and that all equipment is checked and functioning. 5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of techniques and advances in the field of echocardiography. #LI-KF1 Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. The level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through completion of advanced training obrained during a period of intensive preparation outside of school for the performance of non-invasive cardiovascular testing or Ultrasound Technologies, equivalent to an Associate�s Degree. 2. Minimum of six months of experience in EKG and training in non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic ultrasound testing. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Patient care environment and exposure to various patient elements. 2. Moderate walking and standing, lifting and positioning of patients in difficult work positions, pushing of moderately heavy equipment. Concentrated attention required during testing.
